For those that are brand new to yoga, deciding what type of method to practice can be intimidating. From Hot Ashtanga and Viniyoga to Power and Yin, so many decisions on how to best unwind can leave you discouraged and more stressed than when you started. Here at Yogis on the Go, we make it worry free. We practice Vinyasa yoga, also known as flow yoga; a method that focuses on the coordination of breath and movement.

At the heart Vinyasa, loosely translated as to place in a special way, means to move with purpose and intention. The practice focuses on fluid, dance-like movements and breathing techniques that increase strength, stamina and flexibility while building internal heat to detoxify the body.

Sound a little intense? Don’t worry! We love Vinyasa yoga because of its flexibility and capacity to cater to its user and deliver a overwhelmingly personalized experience for students based on their skill level. Unlike other forms of yoga, instructors practicing Vinyasa have the ability switch up poses and sequences or add something new altogether, which continues to challenge the student’s mind and body with each class.

Because of this, Vinyasa is perfect for beginners or for those that are unsure about what type of yoga they want to practice because it incorporates elements from all different schools of yoga. It’s an great low-risk way to learn the basics of yogic breathing and create a strong base for advanced yoga practice in the future.

But Vinyasa isn’t just for the newbies. Seasoned yogis who are looking to continue to deepen their practice often use Vinyasa to explore multiple types of yoga as well as experience the creativity and free form afforded by practicing Vinyasa versus other yoga practices. It is because of Vinyasa diversity that all of our students from yoga and non-yoga backgrounds can easily dive into practice without worry or hesitations about skill level or intensity.

However, Vinyasa doesn’t just focus on the body. Vinyasa is often considered a moving meditation because of the constant awareness of breath while moving through the poses. Yogis often describe an overwhelming sense of calm and increased focus throughout their session which often translates to the “flow” of their lives outside of yoga. Our students report a higher sense of well-being and personal satisfaction which they say helps them deal with daily problem solving and stress.

Vinyasa is a diverse and accepting form of yoga that challenges yogis of all skill levels physically and mentally. Interested in trying Vinyasa? Check out Our Services and schedule a personalized in-home session today.
